Świnoujście opis: Znaleziska archeologiczne wskazują, iż pierwsze osady w okolicy ujścia Świny pojawiły się już 3 tys. lat p. n. e. Od IX w. prowadził tędy główny szlak handlowy w kierunku wschód - zachód i wodny północ - południe. Tu realizowane były interesy handlowe Słowian, Niemców i Duńczyków. W 1170 i 1173 na obu brzegach Świny powstały gródki strażnicze zniszczone najazdem duńskim w 1177 r., odbudowane jednak w latach 1181-1182. W latach 1185-1227 Świnoujście z całym Pomorzem stało się lennem Danii. W 1824 miasto zostało ogłoszone kąpieliskiem morskim, a w 1895, po odkryciu źródeł solanki i borowiny popularnym uzdrowiskiem. W drugiej połowie XIX w. uzyskało połączenie kolejowe z Berlinem (zniszczona w 1945 stacja Świnoujście-Miasto).Podczas II wojny światowej funkcjonowała mała stocznia, port przeładunkowy oraz baza zaopatrzenia floty wojennej (okręty podwodne, kutry). Miasto i port zostały zniszczone głównie podczas nalotów alianckich 12 marca i 16 kwietnia 1945. Ilość ofiar przekroczyła 23 tysiące. Miasto poddało się Armii Czerwonej 5 maja 1945. Po zakończeniu II wojny światowej, na mocy Układu Poczdamskiego Świnoujście zostało najbardziej na zachód położonym polskim portem. Na przełomie lat czterdziestych i pięćdziesiątych XX w. powstało PPDiUR "Odra". Część uzdrowiskowa miasta zajmowana była przez wojska radzieckie do 1957 r..
